  1. I say the PGA Tour and R&A are going about all this totally wrong. All they had to do was to be cool and react calmly. I don’t think LIV will do well and it will fade away over time. These guys are acting like pompous asses, and they are alienating a lot of people.

    1. 8 this year / 16 next with a goal of 24 per year. Yes that is disrupt. Do you expect the PGA just sit back and let that happen without a fight.

    2. @Bass Assassin But that’s not happening. Some are playing poorly, as in every tourny, but some are playing great golf. If you think it’s only bad/old players playing in LIV you’re just deluding yourself for your own agenda.
Also, there are points at stake that they need to keep playing.

    3. Agreed. The LIV tour seems like a circus or something. Low pressure exhibition style, as they’re getting paid no matter what. And if the PGA tours of the various countries just said hey fine have fun playing exhibition, the LIV tour could’ve been yet another failed novelty pro sports league. Certainly still could be, but the PGA tours have tarnished their reputations in their reaction, regardless

  2. This dudes a ๐Ÿคก, gotta read off a script that was probably sent to him by the PGA.

  3. I wish the R&A kept out of this and remained above the commercial contest going on in professional golf. The R&A should concentrate on the state of the game for everyone.
I was hugely disappointed when they sold the rights of the Open and stated that the receipts from the sale would go back into grassroots golf. Where is the money?

    1. There is one thing that the Open is saying. no OWGR points and that is the right position. There is a reason why tournaments are 72 holes. Just ask Norman. He would be wearing a green jacket if it was 54 holes.

    2. @Mike Richardson go watch his shank on the 72nd hole in the ’86 Masters. It a shot us duffers would hit. Then there was the total collapse against Faldo.

  4. Any scratch player or better can enter the qualifying rounds and potentially play in the open championship. It’s called a meritocracy.
LIV golf is by invitation only, a small number of golfers who face no penalty for a poor standard of play and without a cut to incentivise
them to maintain a high standard. Both events so far have resulted in final scores for last place (only 48 players) of 21 and 24 over par
for three rounds of golf. How in any way can that be described as ‘moving the game forward’?

  5. You can’t blame a person for improving his financial situation, having said that, you lose the opportunity to play in the majors or create your own if you think you have staying power

    1. @F Democrats you need to get your brain checked. He said you can blame a person (meaning anyone, which includes all pro athletes). And itโ€™s comprehension, not comprehensive. Your comprehension skills are ironic.

    2. @Tyler M Ummm, you left out the last paragraph of his comment. That’s what I’m referring to. So again who has the Comprehension problem. U.

  6. I am the biggest golf fan and it is the PGA that is destroying golf in the eyes of the world. From now on if players are banned then every major winner will need an asterix next to his name saying he did not play against the worlds best to win this major. Just sad how stupid the pga is

    1. I for one, believe there should be a third party meteor to handle the issues between the PGA and LIV.

    1. Which in their hey day were the most lucrative, most fun and most watched golf tourneys of the year… just ask Fred Couples… I’ve watched both LIV events, London was a little rough, but Portland was well done and far more enjoyable to watch than anuthing but a Major. Here’s hoping the 24 LIV players all make the cut this week and do well and just piss off the establishment further. LDS (LIV Dreangement Syndrome) it’s a thing… look it up.

    2. People that canโ€™t appreciate another style of golf are very simple minded. I guess that includes you.

    3. @JJ G was simply making an observation, donโ€™t even know that I was making a judgment but thank you for your thoughtful personal attack.

  7. I love it, golf elitist’s telling everyone else they know what’s best for the game. The PGA Tour can’t stop change even though they have tried throughout it’s history.

    1. You re right but they can dictate who plays on their tour and if players leave to play LIV PGA has the right to ban them.

    2. This is the R&A not the PGA Tour. Learn about the history of the game before you dive in with opinions on its future

    3. @Pete Bellamy No they don’t and they can’t DOJ is investigating them for that alone.

  8. the elite of the r&a and the pga have had a stranglehold on worldwide golf from day one, they will lose all the best players in the world.no one wants to watch 453 in the world rankings challenging for a major.

  9. So what is not OK? Is 54 holes not enough golf? Does a shotgun start where people play the holes in a different order invalidate the competition? Clearly neither of these things are true. The LIV tournament in Portland was good. I enjoyed the atmosphere. It was nice that it only took a few hours to get the final round in instead of all day. It was easy to follow where everyone was. The only thing that took a bit of thinking is what holes they had left to play. It would seem that traditional golf proponents do not support having to think. That is not terribly surprising.

    1. @Taste With Jase — Weird that a competition broke out in Portland. I guess it must have been a one off. Why does their need to be a cut? Why shouldn’t everyone get paid? To say that somehow makes it less competitive is silly. I always want to win. These guys are probably more competitive than me. DJ had a downhill lie in the bunker that was unlucky late on Saturday that hurt his chances. You could have fooled me about it not being important to him to win. I was standing right next to him.

    2. @Taste With Jase You mean like the WGC events they’ve had for years? Or the new fall series they just added that are exactly like that? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ

  10. The golf rulers are looking out for their own best interests. Players need direct representation on the Official World Golf Ranking or they should create their own. If elite players cannot get an OWGR or cannot compete in the majors it would be a farce. Like Goliath squashing bugs with its fingers.

    1. What elite players are playing LIV ? Right now itโ€™s a bunch of no bodyโ€™s mixed with players past their prime. DJ / Bryson / maybe Koepka are still can compete and itโ€™s a shame to see them home. The others , big deal.

    2. @Pete Bellamy so why does it bother you and the pga that they decided to play over there? If they are all washed up or insignificant than why does the PGA talk more about LIV than vice versa. Stop using human rights as a excuse when FED Ex does more business with SA than anyone. And they sponsor the PGA.

    3. @Pete Bellamy With Brooks Koepka, LIV Golf Now Boasts Nearly Half of the Most Recent Major Winners, From 2016-2021. So your narrative of it being a bunch of players who cant win is in fact a FARCE.

    4. Elite players have a chance to earn OWGR – its called playing on a legitimate tour. LIV is an exhibition, with no cut, 54 holes, and the same 48 players playing against each other. Every one of those LIV players knew that they would be suspended if they joined, and they did it anyway. Now they have to LIV with that decision.

  11. The pga requires just to play 15 tournaments to be a member so why do they care where else you play if you met those requirements. Pga is in trouble

  12. Wait…LIV is a new tour, with 48 new high-paying professional jobs, and 14 new tournaments next year. How is that not growing the game? And it has already led to the PGA Tour increasing purses by like 40%!!! (They miraculously found a spare $160million to give out to the players). Either this guy is stupid or he thinks we are…

  13. I disagree with all of this banning from tours and majors. If a person wants to earn some extra money and play in some other events, then that is their right. There is no rule in my place of work that says I canโ€™t work another job to earn some extra cash in my own time, same would be of the PGA tour.

  14. That’s cool you just won’t have the best players in the world playing in your tournament. And you guys can kiss goodbye ever competitive in the Ryder Cup if you take this stance and it will take the PGA tour shared events to save the DP tour. Good luck

  15. No LIV golfers were remotely in contention at the US open! Scrubs and has beens need not apply! I want to see effort and excellence! A set of players irons are pushing 2 grand! WTF! And they are complaining! If they want more money put the time in and win! Easy Peasy!

  16. I love Tiger! I love Collin! However I really hope Phil to win the OPEN. Just want to see if the OPEN will hold a conference for Philโ€ฆ
