Hello I'm Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel! This YouTube channel is developed to help you play better golf, likewise to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf equipment evaluations, golf instruction & I play against a few of the very best golfers in the world!
I also want to make you play better golf by supplying coaching video on all subjects about golf, how to fix your piece, fix your hook, assist you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, strike your irons closer to the hole and assist you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will likewise help you lower your rating by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and likewise create backspin. Likewise I will supply you help to putt much better and hole more putts!
And he’s back with a T-shirt straight out the packet by the looks of it hahaha. Still great to have you back
Rick, your negative self-talk is your worst enemy. Love your content.
I think because he has to commentate, he becomes overly critical of himself
Yeh, he holds himself to tour pro standards. The reality is heβs a bloody good player and could embrace that
You are spot on right. The mental part of his game is self destructive.
Too bad … he could do better even with some rule nr 1s in sports psychology. π
β@@richardhenderson1902I would love to hear how many hours of UNINTERRUPTED practice time Rick gets in each week. Chipping, putting, 150 yards and in, etc. Speed training, stretching, and working out doesn’t count as golf practice. If it’s not a huge amount of hours then there you go. No need to be upset at shooting in the high 70s or low 80s from tee boxes intended for elite pros.
He also tries to play too many shots the way he thinks they should be played by a tour pro instead of playing to his strengths.
BROKE 75 myself for the first time ever, thank you Rick! Best 9 holes of my life. π€π

LMFAO
LOL
At my club last year we were sat having a pint & there had been a seniors comp on. Bloke walks in shouting about how he’d got 44 points. One of the other old blokes shouted back “f**k me have you been round twice”

I had the chipping, and pitching yips last summer. Not fun. I got to where I would stand over those shots with dread, and zero confidence. However, I sorted it out. It was literally a club path/attack angle issue. If youβre bottoming out behind the ball, which results in fats, and skulls, then youβre trying to take the club back too flat, and inside. Step closer to the ball at setup, and swing the club more along the target line. However, if your divots are too deep, and the ball is coming out too low, then youβre obviously overdoing it. Once you find the happy medium for strike, your confidence will return, and then you can focus solely on your landing spot again. Youβre a good player, Rick. This can easily be overcome. Practice different takeaways, and attack angles from tight lies, until strike feels automatic. Youβll be back to your old self before you know it.
Great round Rick. Good to see another Break 75! Par 5s were not your friend today and simple little things kept you from going low. Couple 3 putts that are not like you. I’d like to see you chip from off the greens more, but more importantly is your shot shape. I’ve watched you well enough to know your natural ball flight is a slight draw. Especially on the tee. Play the shot to your advantage? Line up at the right edge of the fairway and let your natural ball flight work in your favor? Your play in this round was really good!
My favourite Friday afternoons entertainment! Thanks for the great content, Rick!
I feel heβd break 75 if he wasnβt specifically trying to break 75 Rick your a great golfer I look up to you your a big reason Iβm in the game and donβt ever look down on your abilities weβd all be lucky to golf as good as you! Be positive my man love you Rick!
Uhhh, he did break 75…
Buddy, when trying to shorten βyou are,β as in βyou are a big reason Iβm in the game,β itβs βyouβre a big reason Iβm in the game.β
βYourβ is a different word with a different meaning. And donβt at me with some snarky comment about being a grammar Nazi. That just makes you look proud to be wrong.
Weβve had freezing weather all week, so no golf. Living vicariously through you Rick. Enjoyed the round! π
The swing looks smooth, strong and refined! Keep it up, Rick!
Hi everyone! Thanks so much for watching as always!!! Your support is really appreciated.
Iβd like to address a few comments that βIβm too hard on myselfβ etc, the truth isβ¦I have been too hard on myself lately. It probably boils down to frustration. Iβve been working REALLY REALLY hard on my game recently off camera and I want to show you guys my improvement and that I can play at a really good standard. I get frustrated and Iβm disappointed I canβt show you how my golf game is better than the last 12 months or so.
Positive signs are coming, which is exciting but I need to be patient and accept it wonβt just magically happen overnight. Iβll continue to work hard on my game. My plan for new videos I film in 2024 is to SMILE more and enjoy it. I know not just good golf but GREAT golf is round the corner.
Thanks Rick
I know the feeling, I’ve been playing bad for 6-8 months now. To the point where I was thinking of just walking away from golf. But biting the bullet and getting golf lessons starting next week, long overdue. But I’m going to grind at it and trust the process π€
I would highly recommend the relatively new book called “Golf Beneath the Surface: The New Science of Golf Psychology” – I think you really might benefit from it.
Thats like anyrhing in life we always want it now. But the key is to enjoy the journey whilst improving.
I think you need to be even more harder on yourself after that display ππππ
Some solid golf in there. Could have easily been under par on a better putting day!
Need to take the positive out of the score today even when struggling with the pitching and putting!!
Rick, with as bad as some of those shots were that got you into trouble, I can tell you’ve really made solid progress. In the past, those holes would turn your round into +6 or +7. You appear to really be striking the ball better more often, and can make up for most mistakes. Looking good. You’re right there to start breaking par on a regular basis. Fun to watch!
I don’t have a problem with you being too hard on yourself, as we all are our own worst critics. I think it shows a relatable side that we can all relate to, which does help us out there on the course!
Cheers to shooting 74!!!
I really enjoy your Break 75 episodes. I think all us golfers have good days and bad. Good shots and bad. It’s the pursuit of perfection on a beautiful setting that keeps us going back. I love your passion.
Rick this was fun to watch… and your play looked good, and you seemed to be in a better head space… Its great to see you play well and be happier on the course. We watch you because we know how much golf means to you as it does to us.
Really good round Rick, like myself, you can be quite a bit hard on yourself even when you are doing a tremendous job minimizing damage. Congrats on breaking 75!
Rich, I love your attitude when playing golf. You are positive no matter how you start out like today, with a Bogey! Keep those videos coming, you have a friend on this side of the pond! π
Nice 74 Rick! Honestly, for doing so well it was painful to watch. Your games doing really well, keep making that great content we all love π€πΌ
Holed out from 150 yards for my first Eagle a few days ago! My mission is to break 80 this year. I predict Rick will be breaking 70 this year!
Fair play to you Rick for showing the real golf, not being tempted to re hit worst shots or fake your round for YouTube kudos. Undoubtedly some channels do that! People follow you for being relatable and NOTHING is more relatable to inconsistent golf!
Enjoyed that, less negativity and getting down about things, more chilled attitude and positive thinking, culminating in a better round on a long course, well done Rick ππ½
