GC Quad is like 10 years old. Kinda surprised it hasn’t been replaced with a new model or the price lowered.
They did, introduced GCHawk, although it’s only for studio use
The massive problem for me with top tracer is everyone I’ve been to use crappy range balls. So no way could you use it for distances. Good for fun tho
Fair point, but you know if they had ProV1s or any half decent ball, people would take them home.
My son and I tried an indoor golf range that use the top tracer tech, and we played The Old Course at St Andrews. Very fun and very accurate, even trying it at a range type setting or chipping games it was very good. I am a big fan of Top Tracer and would love to try it out more, the place we went to was fairly inexpensive for an hour to use
Great video Rick I’m a high handicapper so don’t buy expensive clubs or balks but fee Great ideas for tec to help my game on there and in my pricr bracket thanks it’s much appreciated you keep us high not very good handicappers in mind cheers mate 👍
Could you do a review of the Phigolf 2 simulator? It’s $300 here in the US and it seems pretty cool! But I’m curious to see if it gets the Rick Shiels stamp of approval!
Hi Rick I love toptracer too & the feedback data it gives I didn’t know that tt 30 would give you a handicap rating I’ll have to check that out⛳️🙂
The issue some are saying with distances is not with top tracer but with range balls. Might be worth you mentioning that when championing TT as for those who do t know range balls are designed to fly 10-20% shorter and could result in spring differences at both ends of the bag that result in different results than you see with premium balls, the range ball influence could help avoid less positive TT reviews.
TT does have a ball compensation feature for hitting range balls, not sure how accurate this is though.
This was really enjoyable to watch! Just picked up a budget rangefinder this week.
I got bought that exact rangefinder (the PeakPulse one) for Xmas last year and it’s genuinely excellent for the lower price point! Don’t know how I coped without it before!
love the putt view, looks like it is making use of Photogrammetry to create a 3D model of the green. then add roll energy and gravity energy applied to the ball! cool!
Started using the 18 birdies app this year and it made such a big difference in my game. Accurate distances and especially helpful when playing courses for the first time to know where and where not to hit
Great app and great for playing with mates
It’s trying to charge me to use?! Is it free? If so I can’t find it
But you haven’t told the truth, it’s only free for 7 days 😡😡
it’s free, the premium is optional
Only free for 7 days?
18 birdies has been a lifesaver for me. I love when you’re playing with friends it links your round and you can keep everyone’s score from your device and it shows up on their phone. Plus the handicap tracker embedded is awesome
We use 18 birdies
Is all that you use on it free ???
I just use it for yardage.
Few months back at my local range I used the “Quintic Ball Roll” putting tech. Basically the putting equivalent of a regular launch monitor and it was so helpful in showing me easy areas of improvement from lining up the base of the putter properly to swing direction and speed consistency. If your putting game is a little up and down, defintely worth checking this out at a driving range if you see it!
Hey Rick, i think many of your viewers would like data tiles when you play your rounds on YT 🙂 (so we can see carry/distance and ball speed)
I just want to enjoy my golf. Not really interested in all the expensive stuff but good to see comparison with affordable kit. I’ve just written to Santa for a £95 rangefinder with slope lock and side screen. Seemed reasonable. Great content as always.
Looking forward to seeing the Ping fitting, and them getting you into a full bag.
18 birdies is amazing! The GPS is always spot on, plus doubles as keeping your score/putts/FH/GIR. And it’s great to use between friends!
Would have loved to try the top tracer ranges, however, despite there being a ton of good golfers, South Africa does not have a single one, so it seems like we will have to stick to the traditional ranges for now
I think it’s unfair to compare the free launch monitors to the ones that are thousands of dollars. I’d love to see a comparison of that Garmin to mevo etc. I had a blue tees range finder and though it’s good bang for your buck it simply wasn’t as accurate as my Bushnell. The blue tees was consistently a few yards off. I use arccos primarily.
Hey RIck great video as always, I would like to add that currently you can’t design your own course on Golf+, although developers have it on the roadmap (in theory). Other than that is a great game, probably my top played game since the full course update launched.
