The BEST IRONS IN GOLF (for every handicap!)

My leading recommendations for the you should be looking at based on your handicap! While ball striking can often be better or worse than your handicap suggests, this provides a fantastic starting point for anyone looking at what kind of irons would be best for their game. 1. As someone who is looking to get a new set of irons this video is perfect especially because these days I have no idea what’s really good quality for players around my handicap

  2. I am a high handicapper and I have the Cobra T-Rails. Yeah, they look a bit weird but they gave me back the confidence, I might actually enjoy golf and maybe get better. Awesome clubs for beginners and high handicappers.

  3. I’m a 8 handicap and I got custom fitted for my irons 3 years ago. The Titleist T-300 irons were the best all around, most consistent irons for me. Great clubs

    1. @Philip Hemmings My fitter had it narrowed down these but when he added an upcharge shaft it was going to cost $2000 for 6-GW.

    2. I’m a 10 handicap and got fitted for Callaway Apex dcbs a couple of years ago too! LOVE them!

    3. Yet they may be really good, I turn away from Titleist, Callaway and TaylorMade.

Now playing a purfect lovely set of Nicklaus-Miura Commerative LE set, which run from P to 3-iron, and is really something special! And customed to my specs. It is like sucking speck while you pure a 3-iron, but missing a wedge will loosen your fillings in the back teeth. Lovely sticks!

  4. 16 handicap currently, better than average ball striker tho and higher swing speed, just got fitted for a set of P770’s and absolutely loved them, just need to decide on grips now

  5. As a 54 handicap beginner, realizing the end of the scale is at 25 is quite a humbling experience 😂

    1. New to golf here. When you say 54 handicap. What exactly does that mean ? That your scoring 54 over par ?

  6. I got fitted to the T300s a few years ago, and I LOVE them. I shot a 96 over the weekend. I can only imagine how much higher it would have been if I had the T100s

    1. Me too, been playing them for a year and love them. Lowered my handicap from 35 to 24, still nothing impressive, but I’ll be playing these for the foreseeable future.

  7. Wilson launchpad 2 irons are perfect for beginners, and alot cheaper than big brands, i love them

  8. Would be an interesting idea for you to play 18 holes with each and see what the scoring difference for you as a great player would be.

  9. Holy Crap! I went from about a 10 to 3 handicap with nike vapor pro combos. Bought them new (my first and only new set of irons in my life) the year Nike stopped making clubs. Still love them! Good Call Finch!

  10. I’ve been playing the Hogan PTX irons for the last 5 years or so. Definitely time for new irons, and this is pretty helpful 👌

  11. I took a 14 year break and when I came back to golf I chose the cobra sz irons they were easy to hit high and long. I’m currently down to a 8 HC. And dropping. I love golf.

  12. As a 15-17 (depending on time of year), the Cobra Forged Tec irons have been amazingly perfect. Remind me a log of those MIzuno 225s

    1. I’m around that as well and play a combo set of the TaylorMade P770s/P790s. They’ve been great. Looked at both the Mizunos and Cobras during my fitting, but just hit the TMs best, so I went with those. The right shaft and lie angle helps too.

  13. I’m a 3 handicapper and I use the Mizuno pro 223s I wanted a little forgiveness and still have some workability. The closer I get to scratch the more I appreciate them. I wish I could use those blades though

  14. I’m still rocking the 2009 Taylor Made TP’s! So yes, there is a lot of REALLY good irons that you can buy from 2nd hand stores that will perform just as good as the best of today. BTW – The lofts at that time were the STANDARD lofts: PW – 46, 9I – 42, 8I – 38, 7I – 34, 6I -30, 5I – 27, 4I – 24, 3I – 21

  15. I’ve fluctuated between a 0-3 handicap over the last 10 years depending on how frequently I play and practice. Mizuno has consistently made irons that work well for me and I’ve played the Mizuno JPX 919 tour’s for the last several years. From what I hear they are fairly similar to the Mizuno pro 223’s. I like having a little extra forgiveness than a blade iron but also still keeping a fairly accurate club.

  16. As an 18 handicap and owner of Titleist T-300 irons I was elated to see these clubs made the list. They are very forgiving irons that still allow me to shape shots when I need to, not to mention they look and feel great.

  17. 💯 agree, after customer fitting recently the best irons I used during the fitting was the Apex MB 21. Easily the best feeling off the blade! Great post! 🙌🏼

  18. 10 handicap, was playing Wilson Staff D7 forged, they got me from 28 down to 10. Just traded them in and got the Cobra King Tour irons! They’re lovely to look at and feel amazing ✌️

  19. I’m a 13 now, but part of the reason I’m here is my iron set. I was an 18 2 years ago. I play Miura PI-401s. They have the stability of a game improvement club with the feel of a Japanese forged head. I’m sure they’ll be good for me as I move into single digits.

Blades are sexy, but a stable head scores. I volunteered at the RBC Canadian Open this year (a PGA Tour event). I saw a lot of competitors using irons with some amount of perimeter weighting, and cavity backs. Apparently a lot of them like scoring more than sexy. “Working” the ball is highly overrated.

Golf gets more fun the better you get at it.

  20. I have the Mizuno MP20 HMB irons and love them. Feel and forgiveness in a great looking design. Not even tempted to look at the Pro 225’s
