The number one thing I have actually discovered when it concerns shallowing, lag, or any relocation I've been dealing with, is to exaggerate. I have actually discovered not to be scared of going to extremes with it. Initially, I was reluctant, believing that if I exaggerated too much, it would be challenging to undo. But that's not what takes place in truth.
When you try to really exaggerate a movement, you in fact wind up getting just about the right amount of lag or whatever else you're dealing with. It might feel like you're doing something insane and extreme, however when you see it on video camera, it's typically almost right. And after that, as you continue to practice, you might need to be familiar with not overemphasizing too much.
But that's a good issue to have, in my opinion. I 'd rather work back from having too much lag than having no lag at all. So I'm a big believer in overemphasizing at the start to actually master it. This resembles what we discussed with variability training, where we intentionally go a bit too far one way and then work it back to the middle.
It's not the end of the world if we get a little too much, since we can constantly tone it back. Another thing that's helped me mentally is to think of it like running an experiment. I do not need to make an ideal swing and hit every shot completely. Instead, I'm going to run an experiment to see how shallow I can get, for example. It's almost like a game, where I'm trying to push myself to see what I can do.
And when you approach it that method, you'll discover that even if you struck some bad shots, it's no huge offer. It's simply part of the experiment. And by running those experiments and trying to exaggerate, you'll end up getting closer to what you in fact want!
